My name is Firdaws and I am 17 years old. I’m a student and I am currently studying towards my A levels.
Femmes De Paix is a voluntary youth group based in Dewsbury. Femmes De Paix is a charity that is very close to my heart and I can resonate with it on a very personal and intimate level. At the age of 12, I lost my dad which has had a huge impact on my life and has been a driving force towards my passion to help those in less fortunate situations than me. At such a young age, I had to draw upon my inner strength and resilience but it has helped me as I’ve matured to achieve set goals both in my personal life and with the team.
I am caring, sensitive and empathetic individual and I am told I have emotional intelligence beyond my years.
I have a bubbly personality and charisma that helps me make new friends quickly and form meaningful relationships and I love new challenges as this helps me in my own personal development and shapes my character. Subsequently I believe life is a learning journey and on the way we meet many people who inspire us and who we inspire.
My passion for baking has enabled me to master the art of developing flavourful desserts and puddings which we sell during fundraising events. I also enjoy hiking with the team, which is how we met and bonded originally.
My future career is to become a qualified social worker in order to help families in hardship. My life experiences and childhood has shaped my understandings of individuals in challenging situations. Also FDP gives me drive and inspiration that even a little help can make such a huge difference.
